Western Heritage Insurance Company Names Anthony Washington President as Mike Horsman Retires

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--()--Western Heritage Insurance Company® announced the promotion of Anthony Washington from vice president of Underwriting to president. Anthony replaced Mike Horsman, who retired with more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. Anthony reports to Mike Miller, president of Scottsdale Insurance Company®.

Mike Horsman’s law background brought him to Scottsdale Insurance Company in 1996 as the senior vice president of Claims. In addition to leading and transforming the Claim organization, Mike sponsored major corporate initiatives and was appointed president of Western Heritage in 2006.

"Leading Western Heritage during these past five years,” said Mike, “has been the perfect cap to my career, and while I’ll miss my many colleagues and friends in the industry, my wife, Sandy, and I are looking forward to spending time with our grandchildren, traveling and working on all the projects we promised each other we’d do when we retired. Western Heritage is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, so it feels significant to me to pass the torch to Anthony, who is primed to bring new energy into the business.”

“During my first three months at Western Heritage,” said Anthony, “I came to realize the tremendous growth potential of Western Heritage and to view our agents as our true partners. Mike fostered that culture at Western Heritage and I’m dedicated to carrying forward our commitment to our general agents. This 25th anniversary is a year of transition at Western Heritage and I’m thrilled to set our course and lead from here.”

Anthony is an experienced insurance executive with nearly 20 years in sales and commercial underwriting. Before coming to Western Heritage as vice president of Underwriting in April 2011, Anthony served as regional vice president of Allied Insurance. He started with Nationwide Insurance in 1999 as associate vice president of Commercial Underwriting. Anthony received an MBA from the University of Iowa.
