Research and Markets: Malaysia Mining Report 2011 - Production of several key mineral commodities should increase

DUBLIN--()--Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/8b78f5/malaysia_mining_re) has announced the addition of the "Malaysia Mining Report 2011" report to their offering.

The Malaysia Mining Report provides industry professionals and strategists, corporate analysts, mining associations, government departments and regulatory bodies with independent forecasts and competitive intelligence on Malaysia's mining industry.

Malaysia's mining sector bounced back strongly in 2010, showing real growth of 17.2% over the year to reach a total industry value of MYR129.43bn (US$40.28bn). The industry is well positioned for strong growth over the forecast period to 2015, with major investment plans from Vale in the iron ore sector and several players in the gold sector all set to support mining production levels.

Malaysia is also home to significant refiners and smelters, such as Malaysia Smelting Corporation, which became the world's second-largest supplier of tin metal during 2010. Industry giant Rio Tinto is also continuing to consider whether or not to build an aluminum smelter in the country, with plans having been on and off the table since 2007.

Country Overview: Malaysia is home to reserves of bauxite, coal, gold, iron ore and tin, among other minerals. However, the country still needs to import many metals and other mineral resources to meet domestic needs. The government has been taking steps in recent years to prioritize the development of the domestic mining industry, unveiling its second National Minerals Policy in February 2009.

Companies Mentioned:
