Damballa Principal Scientist to Present at USENIX Security Symposium

ATLANTA--()--Damballa Inc., the company transforming the fight against cyber threats, today announced that Principal Scientist Manos Antonakakis will be a featured speaker at the 20th Annual USENIX Security Symposium, Friday, August 12, 11:00-12:30 p.m. PT. The conference takes place August 8-12 and the full agenda can be found at: http://www.usenix.org/events/sec11/.

Antonakakis’s presentation titled Detecting Malware Domains at the Upper DNS Hierarchy, will introduce Kopis, an industry-changing early warning threat discovery system that monitors domain look-up behaviors across ‘autonomous’ networks, and is uniquely capable of operating at different levels of the Internet hierarchy. Kopis is one of two recent inventions from Damballa Labs, the research and threat intelligence arm of Damballa, and can detect emerging cyber threats many weeks or months before the initial malware samples are discovered by the security community.

The research paper is now available on the Damballa website at http://www.damballa.com/downloads/a_pubs/Kopis.pdf.
