DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Colorado.gov today announced the winners of its “We Love Colorado” Video Contest after reviewing more than 20 videos submitted by Colorado enthusiasts from all over the country.
The first place winner, “Colorado: the Musical”, produced by Colorado resident Don-John Kullish, will be featured on the homepage of Colorado.gov until August 15 and receive a cash prize of $1,500 from the contest sponsor, the Colorado Statewide Internet Portal Authority (SIPA).
“I was very surprised to have my video selected by Colorado.gov,” said Don-John Kullish. “When I first heard about this contest, I decided to be “over the top” with it… and I guess the judges liked it!”
Mr. Kullish is a freelance filmmaker and Web designer that moved to Colorado from the East coast three years ago. Don-John’s winning video features fellow actor Jenny Karp and showcases Colorado in three minutes using a comical “Broadway show” style presentation and original song.
“’Colorado: the Musical’ really captured the spirit of this contest, which is to show in a creative way why Colorado is such a great place. I was looking for a fun and entertaining video that made me stop and take notice. I enjoyed this short film from beginning to end,” said contest judge and Colorado Film Commissioner, Donald Zuckerman.
The video contest is part of a larger effort to introduce more citizens to Colorado.gov, which now features a brand new design.
“The response to this contest by the community exceeded all our expectations,” said SIPA Executive Director John Conley, “We want to thank everyone who took the time to submit a video or cast a vote for the best video.”
Second and third placed went to Colorado natives Matthew Blake and Chris Lacy. All three winning videos can be viewed on the State’s official website, Colorado.gov.
