TAMPA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Boutique investment banking and private equity firm, Communications Equity Associates (CEA), has announced the appointment of 15-year veteran Ming G. Jung to the position of Chief Operating Officer of CEA Group companies. Prior to this appointment, Jung was Chief Financial Officer of CEA’s Private Equity and Managed Investments divisions. He is a Registered Principal and previously also had administrative oversight of the company’s investment banking activities.
Founded in 1973, CEA has been involved in transactions in over 60 countries. In addition to its traditional base of clients in the media, entertainment, and communications industries, CEA has broaden its activities into other industries directly, and through its affiliated entities, Atlantic American Partners and Old Port Capital.
CEA Founder and CEO Rick Michaels commented, “Ming has been a dedicated member of our senior management team. Given our current focus of combining our investment banking skills and relationships to develop additional private equity funds and direct investment vehicles, Ming’s expertise will be important to successfully realize our goals.”
“CEA is committed to developing one or more new funds with a highly-specialized focus, particularly on larger industrial sectors that are substantially underserved by private equity,” stated Michaels. According to Michaels, the firm has created two alternative asset management vehicles, which have unique characteristics for financial institutions, hedge funds, and/or private equity firms, to provide tax efficient funding and management for portfolios of distressed direct investments. CEA has the ability to provide substantial funding along with management in a structure which is regulatory-friendly and tax efficient. The structure will allow maximization of the value of the portfolio overtime, rather than an immediate secondary sale.
