DUBLIN--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/8bb6ea/russias_gas_indus) has announced the addition of the "Russia's Gas Industry in 2009-2010" report to their offering.
This survey provides information on major trends in Russia's gas industry in 2009-1H2010. The report covers demand, gas reserves, production, exports, transportation issues, gas distribution and gasification of Russian regions, regulation of prices for natural gas and the domestic gas market. The survey also covers the performance of top gas producing companies (Gazprom, NovaTEK, Surgutneftegas, Rosneft, Lukoil, TNK-BP).
Transportation Issues in the Gas Industry - The Unified Gas Supply System:
Gas transportation bottlenecks have become a crucial problem in Russia's gas industry. The Gazprom gas transportation system was mainly established in the 1970s-1980s. Gazprom has admitted that the Unified Gas Supply System had nearly reached its full capacity utilization in 2004, while technical characteristics of the system are inadequate to comply with current requirements.
Gazprom's gas transportation network is the largest in the world. It is capable of smooth long-distance transportation of natural gas to consumers in the Russian Federation and abroad. Over half of it consists of gas pipelines of a large calibre (1,220 and 1,420 mm). The average transportation distance in 2009 was 2,504 km for gas supplied to Russian consumers and 3,292 km for gas export supplies. In late 2008, the Group established control over Daltransgaz, which owns the Komsomolsk-Khabarovsk trunk gas pipeline, which was 472.2 km long as of December 31, 2009. Gazprom's major foreign gas transportation assets include the 575 km section of the Yamal-Europe gas transportation system in Belarus equipped with five linear compressor stations, and the gas transportation system in Armenia.
