ALM Selects MarkLogic to Power New Smart Litigator Product Line

MarkLogic Chosen to Manage Unstructured Data, Consolidate Information

SAN CARLOS, Calif.--()--MarkLogic® Corporation, the company revolutionizing the way organizations leverage Big Data, today announced that ALM is using MarkLogic as the central repository for the company’s content and as the database to power its latest product, Smart Litigator. Smart Litigator is an online research service with a comprehensive case law database, statutes, verdicts, exclusive case files from a prominent board of editors, and judge profiles. The research tool is used by leading law firms in New York and New Jersey, and will be followed by additional regional editions, including Pennsylvania, Texas and California. Bill Pollak, CEO of ALM will discuss the deployment of the platform on the webinar “Turning Data into Dollars” on Thursday, July 14, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. (ET). For more information or to register for the webinar, visit www.marklogic.com/data2dollars.

As a database for unstructured information, MarkLogic is capable of storing, searching, and delivering content to multiple products and devices. After spending many hours trying to get its unstructured information into a relational database, ALM knew that it needed a different tool to consolidate its information. The result was a MarkLogic central repository that is allowing the company to create new products and embrace an agile IT methodology.

“One of the great things about MarkLogic is its ability to help customers build new products quickly and at low cost,” said Ron Avnur, vice president of engineering, MarkLogic. “ALM is a great example of this, as a company that had a large amount of complex data in multiple file types, consolidated that information, and has started to build products on it. Unlike relational databases, you can build all of these new products off of a single repository.”
