Introducing BioCode-HP 4,096-plex MDx Analyzer

Make High Multiplex MDx Assays Simple

AACC 2011

SANTA FE SPRINGS, Calif.--()--Applied BioCode will introduce the BioCode-HP Analyzer for the simultaneous detection of up to 4,096 different analytes in a single sample. The BioCode-HP is the 2nd generation Barcoded Magnetic Beads analyzer following on the successful commercialization of the BioCode-1000A (128-plex) Analyzer. It will be displayed at the Applied BioCode booth at the 2011 American Association of Clinical Chemists (AACC) Annual Meeting held on July 26-28 in Atlanta, Georgia (Clinical Lab Expo Booth #2573 & #2575).

Like the BioCode-1000A, it utilizes Applied BioCode’s patented Barcoded Magnetic Beads, a digital multiplexing technology, along with a robust optical imaging system and fluorescence detection to perform sample testing. Barcoded Magnetic Beads (5 x 35 x 68 microns) are now manufactured with up to 4,096 (= 212, 12-digit) different barcodes.

The BioCode-HP Analyzer is configured for a 96-well microplate format, and includes a rotating disc, imaging optics, and CCD detector. The rotating disc provides a uniform bead distribution over a large surface area. The imaging optics scans the disc, as well as a CCD camera that detects both bright field barcode image and fluorescence image. By overlapping the two images, the BioCode-HP Analyzer rapidly decodes and measures the fluorescence intensity of every single Barcoded Magnetic Bead. In brief, the system uses barcodes to identify which probe coupled on the bead surface, and uses fluorescence to quantify a positive or negative reaction on the bead.

The BioCode-HP offers the highest bead-based multiplexing capability for DNA and protein analysis, and bridges the gap between high-density microarrays and lower level liquid arrays.

The company’s open-architecture Barcoded Magnetic Beads technology enables large numbers of biological tests to be conducted and analyzed quickly, accurately, and cost-effectively. A wide variety of In-Vitro Diagnostic and Life Science Research applications can be performed on the BioCode-HP. Included in these are cancer diagnostics, microRNA testing, pharmacogenomics & companion diagnostics, transplant, bone marrow and HLA testing, infectious disease testing, biomarker validation, gene expression analysis, and genetic analysis.
