LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Zynx Health, the market leader in providing evidence-based and experience-based clinical decision support solutions, today announced that The University of Kansas Hospital has gone live with 240 evidence-based order sets deployed via computerized provider order entry (CPOE). This announcement comes after they had already gone live with more than 35 ZynxCare® evidence-based plans of care deployed via their Epic electronic health record (EHR) system. The implementation of evidence-based order sets and plans of care within an EHR will enable The University of Kansas Hospital System to comply with the requirements for demonstrating meaningful use of EHRs as outlined in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).
Under the leadership of Dawn Walters, RN, BSN, MBA, assistant director of nursing at The University of Kansas Hospital, a team of clinicians took part in selecting Zynx Health for their evidence-based clinical decision support. Focusing on providing the best quality of care for patients was their priority, and key to their decision was selecting a solution that would provide them with frequent updates based on clinical evidence. “Patient outcomes are very high on our priority list, along with patient satisfaction,” says Walters. “Zynx Health won out because of the frequency with which the evidence is updated in the care plans, which ensures that we are providing the best quality of care.”
ZynxCare evidence-based plans of care were deployed in spring 2010 while the launch of the evidence-based order sets was scheduled to coincide with CPOE go-live at a later date. The use of the ZynxOrder® content management system and online collaboration tools facilitated a multidisciplinary approach to customization of the order sets. Because Zynx Health solutions are deployed using software as a service (SaaS), customization of evidence-based clinical decision support rules, alerts, and reminders is available instantaneously at any remote location.
“Our goal in implementing evidence-based order sets and plans of care into the workflow is to standardize patient care and ensure optimal patient outcomes,” says Greg Ator, MD, CMIO for The University of Kansas Hospital. “Using the collaboration tools available through Zynx® made it possible for us to have the conversations and input necessary to gain consensus among the clinical teams who will be using the order sets and plans of care.”
As early leaders in evidence-based medicine and healthcare quality improvement solutions, Zynx Health has set the standard for reliable technology, comprehensive and unbiased content, personalized customer support, and ease of use in implementing evidence-based clinical decision support across the continuum of care.
“We are proud to work with The University of Kansas Hospital as they implement innovative tools which support their mission to deliver world-class patient care,” says David Rhew, MD, senior vice president and CMO of Zynx Health. “We look forward to our continued partnership and supporting The University of Kansas Hospital as they further enhance clinical efficiencies.”
