Confluence Chairman, CEO and Founder Mark Evans Named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2011 Regional Award Winner

Award Recognizes Entrepreneurial Excellence in Technology Category

PITTSBURGH--()--Confluence, the leading provider of automated data management solutions for the investment management industry, today announced that Mark Evans, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and founder, received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2011 Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia Award in the Technology category.

According to Ernst & Young LLP, the award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. Mr. Evans was selected by an independent panel of judges comprised of previous award winners, leading CEOs, private capital investors and other regional business leaders. The award was presented at a gala event on June 10 at the Westin Convention Center Hotel in Pittsburgh, PA.

"It is an honor to be recognized among such an esteemed group of successful entrepreneurs," said Mr. Evans. "I share this award with my colleagues at Confluence, as well our clients. I’ve been fortunate to surround myself with many smart, passionate and entrepreneurial people, from colleagues to clients, who are committed to transforming fund administration through technology.”

Mark Evans founded Confluence to provide a better way for managed investments, such as mutual funds and hedge funds, and their service providers worldwide to manage their data and handle complex reporting and compliance requirements. His vision has led to a sea change in how investment management companies handle fund administration. Under his leadership, Confluence developed the Unity® platform, the first and only software platform to automate critical fund administration processes. Today, the company is a market leader, serving 40 percent of the leading global investment managers, and more than 60 percent of U.S. mutual funds. As a result, the company has also expanded over time. In addition to its headquarters in Pittsburgh, Confluence has offices in London and Luxembourg, and has just opened a new location in San Francisco.

As a regional award winner, Mr. Evans is now eligible for consideration for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2011 National Award. Award winners in several national categories, as well as the overall Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year National Award winner, will be announced at the annual awards gala on November 12, 2011, in Palm Springs, California. The awards are the culminating event of the Ernst & Young Strategic Growth Forum®, the nation’s most prestigious gathering of high-growth, market-leading companies, which will be held November 9–13, 2011.

The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards Program celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, recognizing entrepreneurial business leaders through regional, national and global awards programs in more than 140 cities in more than 50 countries.
