NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Gary Zegiestowsky, president and chief executive officer of ICA, was named one of the top ten entrepreneurs of the Nashville metropolitan area by The City Paper of Nashville and the Nashville chapter of Entrepreneurs’ Organization. The award stated that Mr. Zegiestowsky, like his fellow top ten entrepreneur executives, have “that little something extra propelling them toward success. They’re dogged, visionary and contrarian. They trust their instincts, but still work like mad to overcome obstacles. And they are an affirmation that, even in a mediocre economy, there are still plenty of good growth stories close to home.”
Mr. Zegiestowsky is a founder of ICA and has spent his entire professional life in technology, having worked for corporations including GE, Cendant Corporation and Andersen Consulting. Former Vanderbilt University Medical Center leader, Harry Jacobson, identified Mr. Zegiestowsky as the executive to lead a spin-off company from VUMC’s technology transfer office, which became ICA. ICA develops and markets health information exchange (HIE) solutions for hospitals, IDNs, communities and states. HIEs enable the distribution and exchange of critical patient clinical information throughout a broad health network to the point-of-care at the moment-of-need.
Regarding signing on to ICA, Mr. Zegiestowsky said, “I was looking for something rewarding where I really felt like the company was making a difference. ICA’s heritage, having been created at a leading institution like Vanderbilt, has allowed us, in a short time, to become one of the established players.”
Under Mr. Zegiestowsky’s leadership, ICA has quadrupled in size in the last 12 months and ranks as one of the top three providers of HIE in the market. ICA’s clients include Vanguard Health and Mid-Tennessee eHealth Connect both in Nashville, MidSouth eHealth Alliance in Memphis, Well Star Health System in Atlanta, Lourdes Hospital in Kentucky, eHealth Align and Kansas Health Information Network both in the Kansas market and Meridian Health System in New Jersey, among others.
