Sorin Roibu appointed global security analyst at Turner Investments

Analyst covers the financial-services sector for the firm’s growth-stock portfolios

BERWYN, Pa.--()--Sorin Roibu has been named global security analyst in the Growth Investments Team at Turner Investments, an employee-owned investment-management firm.

Mr. Roibu, 31, conducts fundamental research about companies in the financial-services sector of the stock market for the firm’s institutional growth-stock portfolios, managed accounts, and mutual funds. Based in Berwyn, Pennsylvania, Turner Investments was founded in 1990 and offers growth, global/international, long/short, core, and quantitative investments in stocks to both institutions and individuals. Turner manages more than $18 billion in assets, as of March 31, 2011.

Mr. Roibu becomes the 25th member of the Growth Investments Team, which is organized into five analyst teams that are assigned to oversee the market sectors for the firm’s growth-stock portfolios. The five analyst teams make investment recommendations on stocks in all capitalization ranges in their sectors.

Mr. Roibu reports to Mark Turner, president and senior portfolio manager. He succeeds Amanda Black, who accepted a portfolio-management position with a real-estate hedge fund in New York.

Mr. Roibu previously served as vice president and senior research analyst in the Global Opportunities Team at BlackRock, where he covered the global financial-services sector.

He earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration, with a concentration in finance, from Drexel University in 2003. He lives in Philadelphia.
