17,782 Rubber Ducks Help Cozi Set Guinness World Record

Longest row of yellow rubber duckies stretches one mile through Seattle park encouraging families to get their ducks in a row

SEATTLE--()--Cozi, the No. 1 online and mobile family calendar and organization service, got its ducks in a row in a BIG way yesterday, when it set the Guinness World Record for the world’s longest line of yellow rubber ducks. The event, held in Seattle’s Warren G. Magnuson Park, encouraged all families to get their own ducks in a row.

History was made and the official record was announced at 1 p.m. Pacific Time, when Guinness World Record adjudicator Kimberly Partrick measured the ducks, lined up bill-to-tail through the park, and determined that Cozi’s line of 17,782 little quackers had reached one full mile.

“Getting your ducks in a row is hard, but it’s so worth it. We learned that here today,” said Cozi CEO Robbie Cape. “Rubber ducks can be pretty slippery, but we managed to corral them all long enough to set the record.”

Seattle families and more than 80 duck-wrangling volunteers waddled around and enjoyed a beautiful day in the park as they watched rubber-duck history in the making.

“Not only was it beautiful and amazing to see thousands of ducks in a row, it was great to see so many families working together to achieve a Guinness World Record,” said Partrick after certifying the record.

Now that Cozi’s rubber ducks have had their moment in the sun, families across the country can join in the fun with Cozi’s Summer of Ducks photo contest. From now through Aug. 31, photos of rubber ducks partaking in summer fun—anything from taking a dip in the local pool to enjoying the sweeping views at the Grand Canyon—can be e-mailed to ducks@cozi.com for a chance to win a smartphone. Each month, a “lucky duck” photographer, as determined by random drawing, will receive a smartphone of his or her choice (up to $300 value), perfect for keeping the family organized with Cozi when the new school year begins.
