NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--United Telehealth Services today announced its company’s launch providing telehealth programs for hospitals and physicians. Founded by Dr. Sami Ismail, Dr. John Wilters and Drew Nord, United Telehealth connects “Hub” hospital and specialists’ expertise to outlying “Spoke” hospitals, clinics and providers. Today, patients in remote or rural areas often unnecessarily travel long distances to seek consultations and opinions from physician specialists.
Leveraging video and audio conferencing technology, United Telehealth will design and execute telehealth programs to bring specialists directly to patients, allowing them to receive a higher level of care while staying in their home areas. United Telehealth can serve nearly any specialty, design any level of system and provide complete program management services to ensure expected results are achieved.
“For years, telehealth has promised to link disparate hospitals, patients and providers, but too often organizations could not coordinate to make the investment of equipment, technology, resources and time bring high enough returns,” said CEO John Wilters. “Today, costs have come down and United Telehealth sees an opportunity to help hospitals and providers as they seek to take advantage of telehealth for their facilities.”
COO Drew Nord added, “Our country will exceed 360 million people by 2030, and we face an overall shortage of healthcare professionals. In remote areas, that shortage is worse, especially a lack of specialists. United Telehealth was founded on the belief that the technology and services are available to address these challenges. By connecting hospitals, providers and patients, we will help people remain with their local providers as long as possible but be assured they are receiving the best care available.”
The company, which is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, will design custom programs and then maintain the system by training personnel, installing and upgrading equipment and ensuring utilization of the service. Hub hospitals will extend the reach of their specialist relationships and receive additional procedures. Spoke organizations and their providers will retain patients while connecting to expert consultations. The results for patients are dramatic including better care, less travel and comfort knowing the remote specialists are involved in their case from the start.
