ScriptLogic Showcases Power of PacketTrap IT and Help Desk Authority at Interop

ScriptLogic Also Introduces Free Version of PacketTrap IT to Give Network Admins Full Network Management Capability for 10 Devices

Interop Las Vegas 2011
Booth #1359

LAS VEGAS--()--ScriptLogic® Corporation (www.scriptlogic.com), a leading provider of systems lifecycle management solutions for Microsoft® Windows®-based networks, today announced that two solutions – PacketTrap® IT, its network monitoring and IT infrastructure management solution, and Help Desk Authority® for efficient help desk ticket tracking – will be showcased at Interop Las Vegas 2011, happening May 8-12, 2011 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. ScriptLogic will be demonstrating the products in the booth of its parent, Quest Software (#1359), and the tradeshow’s IT network, InteropNet, has deployed the solution to monitor the efficacy of all off-show infrastructure and devices for the 12,000 people expected at the event. The activity dovetails additional ScriptLogic news this week of a free version of PacketTrap IT that provides out-of-the-box networking management functionality.

PacketTrap IT has been developed for network administrators to solve problems associated with bandwidth, connectivity, network and infrastructure performance that are often constant, time-consuming issues for IT departments. Auto remediation can be configured to automatically take actions to restore services when a failure occurs, enabling network administrators to focus more time on strategic initiatives. PacketTrap IT integrates seamlessly with Help Desk Authority to automatically generate help desk tickets for network issues. Using both solutions, network administrators can proactively monitor the health of their network and quickly complete more in-depth troubleshooting.

At Interop Las Vegas, PacketTrap IT will be used to monitor and manage the Off Show Floor (OSF) environment where InteropNet is providing free IT resources from wireless to VoIP to enhance attendees’ event experience. The solution will provide InteropNet with a platform to alert administrators in the event of an issue within the OSF environment. InteropNet will also deploy Help Desk Authority to prioritize and address network and end users issues as quickly as possible.

“The Off Show Floor environment encompasses all the education and breakout session rooms and is where a large number of attendees will get access to the InteropNet via wireless,” said Glenn Evans, lead architect at Interop and principal at Acrux Consulting. “From an operational perspective, it is important for us to have the multi-layer visibility and alerting functionality that PacketTrap IT provides so that we can minimize attendee issues and fix problems before they impact operations. Separately, using Help Desk Authority to track any issues that do occur, we can guarantee rapid response time.”

This week, ScriptLogic also introduced a free version of PacketTrap IT for organizations that need a user-friendly solution to monitor 10 or fewer critical devices. Small-to-midsized enterprises that have limited IT resources face a growing number of IT challenges during day-to-day operations: network connectivity and latency, and application and server uptime. The free version of PacketTrap IT eases the strain on network administrators enabling them to keep a close watch over devices in increasingly heterogeneous IT environments. This version also provides traffic monitoring for one device and administrators can access a users’ community for support.

“For more than a decade, ScriptLogic has developed solutions to help administrators effectively manage desktops, servers, Active Directory and more recently their entire network; during that time we’ve truly seen an evolution in the devices and new technologies IT departments make available to end users,” said Nick Cavalancia, vice president of Windows Management at ScriptLogic. “Selection of both PacketTrap IT and Help Desk Authority for use by Interop, an organization fully committed to IT excellence, validates our efforts to deliver solutions to meet our customers evolving needs.”
