NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mitochon Systems (www.mitochonsystems.com), provider of a free EHR to physician practices, announced today it has earned complete ambulatory EHR certification (ONC-ATCB 2011/2012) from the Drummond Group, Inc.
“We are the first, free EHR vendor that has earned complete certification. This means that physicians who want to earn the meaningful use (MU) incentive payments do not have to pay for their ambulatory EHR system. It makes the MU guarantees of competitive systems that only have modular certification superfluous,” said Chris Riley, chief executive officer of Mitochon Systems.
The certification will allow physician users of Mitochon’s mEMR to meet MU criteria and to qualify for ARRA funding for EHR use, which ranges from $44,000 to $65,000 per physician over five years. Mitochon’s free solution allows physicians to keep their incentive payments and avoid the costs of a traditional system.
Mitochon’s mEMR system is used by hundreds of physicians nationwide. Mitochon provides physicians with a complete, physician-designed, free EHR delivered via the Web. Mitochon’s mEMR includes the unique mConnect (clinical HIE) technology, enabling physicians to immediately share clinical data with their referral network through the system’s Virtual Medical Community (VMC™).
The Mitochon mEMR is ad-supported. Physicians do not pay for the EHR; ads are displayed within the workflow of the application. Mitochon offers a full-time Client Service Department to help physicians with installation and maintenance at no charge.
This Complete EHR is 2011/2012 compliant and has been certified by an ONC-ATCB in accordance with the applicable certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. This certification does not represent an endorsement by the Department of Health and Human Services or guarantee the receipt of incentive payments. Mitochon’s mEMR/mConnect/mPHR Version 3.0 was certified on May 5, 2011. The ONC certification ID number is 05052011-8074-8.
Clinical Quality Measures tested: NQF0013, NQF0024, NQF0028, NQF0038, NQF0041, NQF0043, NQF0059, NQF0061, NQF0064, NQF0421 and NQF0575. No additional software used.
Mitochon Systems was founded in 2006 by Dr. Andre Vovan, MD, MBA, FCCM, who is the director of a critical care department at a large California hospital. He created a system based on the free model because the cost of traditional EHR systems makes them unaffordable for many independent physicians.
