SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AppCentral™ Inc., today announced the launch of the first multi-platform mobile application management solution designed to help companies manage corporate apps on both company- and employee-owned smartphones and tablets.
Because the Android Market and the iTunes App Store were designed for consumer apps, they are not the right solution for distributing, securing and managing corporate mobile apps inside the enterprise. Companies need their own private enterprise app stores that are as easy to use as consumer marketplaces and enhanced to meet the specific needs of the enterprise.
“Research shows that 90 percent of enterprises plan to implement in-house, custom mobile apps this year — with many expecting to deliver and support more than 20 internal apps,” said CEO Ken Singer. “AppCentral is about giving companies the tools to make mobile apps enterprise-ready.”
Delivered as a SaaS or on-premise solution and accessed by either a native Android or iOS app, AppCentral gives companies a quick and easy way to set up private, internal enterprise app stores that can distribute, secure and manage corporate apps.
The AppCentral Mobile App Management (MAM) solution addresses the three major challenges facing every enterprise hoping to harness the power of mobile apps:
- Mobile App Distribution – getting approved apps on to users’ devices
- Mobile App Security – controlling access, locking and wiping corporate apps and data without interfering with the user’s device or personal data
- Mobile App Administration – updating apps, tracking app usage and permissions
By enabling these three critical functions, AppCentral lets IT departments focus on the things they need to manage — corporate apps and data — without taking on the burden and risk of managing tens of thousands of employee devices and their corresponding personal data. While first-generation Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions were designed to manage corporate-owned devices, AppCentral’s Mobile Application Management solution was developed specifically for the new reality of employee-owned devices.
Multi-platform to cover all users
AppCentral launches with support for all iOS and Android phones and tablets — with more platforms on the way. Available today as Software-as-a-Service or on-premise solution, AppCentral’s multi-tenant, role-based architecture makes it easy to deploy corporate apps and sanctioned third-party apps to employees based on job function, department or device.
