MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Higher Learning Commission, which is the accrediting body for degree-granting post-secondary educational institutions in the north central region of the United States, has invited Capella University (http://www.capella.edu), an accredited online university* that has built its reputation by providing high quality online degree programs for working adults, to present at its annual conference in Chicago on April 9 and 10.
As part of the pre-conference workshop that is being hosted by the Higher Learning Commission’s Academic Quality Improvement Program, Capella University Interim President Deb Bushway, PhD, and Kim Pearce, Capella’s director of academic quality analytics, will present on using analytics to improve student learning and meet accreditation expectations.
“Capella University uses action analytics to help drive student success and address emerging accreditation requirements,” Bushway said, adding that action analytics is the rapid conversion of data into information that inspires action. It is shared with faculty, staff and students in near real time, relying heavily on technology and collaboration among many stakeholders.
On Sunday, April 10, Bushway and Brian Barton, faculty chair with Capella’s School of Undergraduate Studies, will present on how Capella has designed its academic processes to support outcomes-based education.
“The academic practices at Capella support our strategy of leading the definition of high-quality online learning that has been specifically designed to best serve working adult professionals,” Barton said.
