CHATSWORTH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Image Entertainment, Inc. (OTCQB: DISK) has acquired all North American distribution rights to The Perfect Game. Produced by David Salzberg and Christian Tureaud, The Perfect Game is a heartwarming, life-affirming true story of determination, drive and dreams realized. Getting the film completed was a Sisyphean task nearly as challenging as the story it tells. Bill Bromiley, Chief Acquisitions Officer for Image Entertainment, made today’s announcement following the film’s debut at the Dallas Film Festival.
“This film has something for everyone,” Bromiley said. “It’s more than an underdog sports parable. The Perfect Game illuminates the human spirit, the power of community and the heroics of everyday people making their dreams come true.”
Directed by William Dear and written by W. William Winokur from his book, the film stars Clifton Collins Jr. (TV’s “The Event”), Cheech Marin (“Nash Bridges”), Jake Austin ("Wizards of Waverly Place") and Moises Arias ("Hannah Montana"). The Perfect Game spins the amazing story of the 1957 Little League World Series won by a hardscrabble team from Monterrey, Mexico. The final game in the Championship series remains the only “perfect game” ever pitched to this day. Beyond a feel good “victory to the good guys” tale, The Perfect Game also examines racism, political discord and questions of faith. By the final inning, however, it’s a lump-in-the-throat, rousing yarn that touches the heart.
Producers Salzberg and Tureaud experienced their own considerable challenges getting the film completed. But their eventual successful theatrical release last summer and now a home entertainment release timed for the 2011 Little League World Series, is a testament to the strength of the story and the performances in the film.
