MBTA Awards Contract to HDR/Gilbane Team for Green Line Light Rail Extension Project

BOSTON--()--The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority has awarded a contract for program management and construction management of the Green Line extension project to the HDR/Gilbane Team, a joint venture of HDR Engineering, Inc. and Gilbane Building Company. The project will extend the Green Line, the nation’s oldest light rail line, from the existing Lechmere Station to Medford, Mass.

HDR/Gilbane’s role is preliminary design, design management, construction management and overall program management. The total program estimate is just over $950 million, and the extension is anticipated to be complete in 2015.

HDR’s Michael McBride P.E., the team’s project manager and Karen Arpino, deputy project manager of Gilbane Building Company, said, “We are excited about the opportunity to continue our relationship and record of delivering quality services to the MBTA as we partner with them to successfully deliver the Green Line Extension project.”
