Green River Capital Hosts Second Annual Preferred Agent Training Events

Asset management firm provides opportunity for agents to learn from peers, industry experts

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah--()--Green River Capital (GRC), an REO asset management and loss mitigation provider for mortgage servicers, investment firms, credit unions and banking institutions, announced that the company hosted two agent training events. By offering classes, case studies, presentations and break out sessions, GRC’s annual event is designed to promote excellence and aid in the professional development of its nationwide network of preferred brokers.

“We received fantastic feedback from the agents that attended the inaugural training event last year, and this year we offered our preferred agents even more in terms of education and professional development,” said Chris West, CEO of Green River Capital. “Now more than ever industry professionals need to collaborate and learn from one another to help the mortgage industry recover, and GRC is proud to bring together our personnel, industry experts and some of the nation’s hardest working agents for an enjoyable and productive day.”

Approximately 500 GRC preferred agents attended the event in February and more than 500 additional agents attended the second event in March. The trainings focused on developing a competitive strategy for REO real estate agents in a market inundated by foreclosures. GRC preferred agents are selected based on performance and the volume of assets handled within 2010.

“I have attended many real estate seminars throughout my career, and the event that Green River Capital presented was impressive from many aspects,” said attendee Heidi Burns, a broker with Properties Unlimited and GMAC Real Estate in Ranch Cucamonga, Calif. “It was not only informative, but it was motivating, educational and truly focused on the industry’s current issues and how each of us can improve as professionals. GRC provided a fantastic opportunity for agents to network while benefiting from a well structured, well planned and well directed event. I appreciated the opportunity to attend and look forward to future GRC-hosted events.”

Throughout the one-day training, GRC challenged its agents with the question: Can you compete? and provided them with GRC and industry standard best practices for asset management.

Classes at the training events included:

  • Fannie Mae Best Practices
  • Considering Repairs
  • Clearing Hurdles: Financing, Property Preservation and City Requirements
  • Out-Marketing Your Competition
  • Expanding Your Offerings: DIL/SS/NHC

Rick Sharga, vice president of RealtyTrac and one of the country's most frequently quoted sources on foreclosure, mortgage and real estate trends, was the keynote speaker for the events. Sharga has appeared on NBC Nightly News, CNN, CBS, ABC World News, CNBC, MSNBC and National Public Radio. He has briefed government organizations, such as the Federal Reserve and Senate Banking Committee and corporations including JPMorgan Chase, Citibank and Deutsche Bank on foreclosure trends. Sharga has also conducted foreclosure training for leading real estate companies, such as Re/Max, Prudential and Keller Williams.

Orel Hershiser, former Major League Baseball player and currently a baseball analyst and owner of All Southern California Escrow, also spoke at the events. “Green River Capital has established a great reputation in the industry, and I am proud to be affiliated with a company that keeps the customer in mind at all times and has such high standards for its staff and its agents,” said Hershiser. “Now more than ever our industry is focused on the well being of both buyers and sellers, and must be conscious of the finances, livelihood and feelings of all parties.”

Both agent training events were held at Grand America, Salt Lake City’s premiere hotel. Guests were treated to an early morning yoga class and a session with Utah’s distinguished Master Lu, founder and owner of Master Lu’s Health Center of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. The days wrapped up with cocktail receptions at the hotel.

GRC also hosted a VIP day preceding the event, which included an office visit for their top 30 preferred agents, an ice curling competition and a reception at the Utah Olympic Oval.
