Virtual Computer Adds Sham Sao as Chief Marketing Officer

Seasoned software marketing executive joins desktop virtualization leader to accelerate growth and market momentum

WESTFORD, Mass.--()--Virtual Computer, the market leader in distributed desktop virtualization, today announced it has appointed Sham Sao as chief marketing officer (CMO). A veteran executive with extensive software and technology experience, Sao will be responsible for marketing, communications, product management, and product marketing at Virtual Computer. He has successfully led multiple high-growth companies in functions including marketing, product management, business and corporate development, strategy and M&A.

“Sham brings together a unique mix of experience combining marketing and operational expertise at high-growth companies along with top-tier consulting experience from McKinsey, making him the perfect person to lead our marketing and product management efforts,” said Dan McCall, president and CEO of Virtual Computer. “We are pleased to add Sham to the Virtual Computer team and look forward to him helping the company achieve its next level of growth and success.”

“Virtual Computer is positioned to revolutionize the way business and technology professionals interact with computers. There’s a growing tension in today’s world where IT professionals are increasingly locking down PCs to bring down management costs, while end-users are demanding the flexibility to install and use applications they need to drive their productivity. Virtual Computer’s desktop virtualization solutions satisfy the needs of both – delivering unprecedented levels of manageability while offering end-users enormous flexibility,” said Sao.

Most recently, Sao served as CMO of OneSource, a division of Infogroup. At OneSource, he led a global marketing team and conceived and launched a web-based offering that grew unique visitors to the website from 40,000 per month to nearly 1,000,000 per month. Previously, Sao served as global vice president of marketing and business development for Deploy Solutions, a leading provider of software and hardware-based workforce solutions, where he drove consistent pipeline and revenue growth resulting in the company winning a spot on the Deloitte & Touche Fast 50 list for high-growth companies, and ultimately being acquired by Kronos. Sao also has served in executive positions at companies including Partnerware, Trilogy and McKinsey & Company.

He holds a B.S. in Computer Science and a B.A. in Economics from Yale University. Sao attended Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School, where he earned a J.D. in technology law and served as an editor on the Journal of Law & Technology.
