SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Big-D Construction’s (www.big-d.com) O.C. Tanner Flagship Store Renovation project was one of the most outstanding construction projects of 2010, the Associated General Contractors of America announced today. As a result, Big-D Construction was one of eight firms to receive the association’s national Aon Build America Merit Award.

The O.C. Tanner Flagship Store Renovation project, which won merit recognition for building renovation, required three stories and 20,000 square feet to be removed, rebuilt, repaired and refurbished. As a result, Big-D was able to preserve the landmark limestone and unique window designs while building a brand new structure and incorporating contemporary design elements. Even though the construction team was required by the city to work during limited hours, the project was completed six months ahead of schedule and without any lost time accidents.
Aon Build America Merit Awards recognize significant construction projects completed during the past twelve months. A panel of judges, representing all areas of construction, evaluated over 115 projects this year, assessing each project’s complexity, use of innovative construction techniques and coordination with partners, among other criteria. The awards, which were announced during the association’s annual convention in Las Vegas, are considered by many to be among the most prestigious recognitions of construction accomplishments in the U.S.
