OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Bio Nebraska Life Sciences Association will celebrate a successful year at the 2011 annual meeting at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Whittier Research Center located at 2200 Vine Street in Lincoln, Nebraska. Attendees will hear from local bioscience industry leaders and witness Governor Dave Heineman present the third annual Governor’s Bioscience Award.
The membership meeting begins at 4:00 p.m. on April 14, 2011, and will include a presentation by Jim McClurg, Ph.D., Bio Nebraska’s Chairman of the Board. J.B. Milliken, J.D., President of the University of Nebraska; Richard Baier, Director of Nebraska’s Department of Economic Development; and Lyle Middendorf, Senior VP and Chief Technical Officer at LI-COR Biosciences, will lead the discussion on how Nebraska’s academic, government, and industry partnerships have aligned to maximize Nebraska’s strengths in human, animal, and plant science.
The public is invited to the meeting and award ceremony at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Whittier Research Center. Hors d’oeuvres will be served after the Governor’s Bioscience Award ceremony.
“There is no greater celebration of the Nebraska bioscience industry than this gathering of industry leaders,” stated Bio Nebraska Executive Director Amy Recker. “This is our first annual meeting since the Nebraska Bioscience Roadmap was released in September 2010, and it will be an open dialog on our progress and plans for implementing the strategies from the roadmap. Combined with Governor Heineman’s presentation of the third annual Governor’s Bioscience Award, it is going to be a wonderful celebration.”
The 2011 Governor’s Bioscience Award recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to the bioscience industry in Nebraska. Any individual who positively impacts the state’s bioscience industry through innovation, public policy, investment, business creation or leadership is eligible for the award. The nominee is not required to be a member of Bio Nebraska. Nomination forms are available on Bio Nebraska’s website and are due by March 25, 2011.
