LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Bear Whisperer Returns on Animal Planet, premiering Thursday, April 7, at 10 PM (ET/PT), follows professional bear-expert, Steve Searles as he uses non-lethal means to ensure that humans and bears can coexist in the resort town of Mammoth Lakes, CA.
Whether it’s a dumpster-diving cub or a home-invading adult, Searles will be there to answer every panicked call. The series comes after Animal Planet’s successful airing in January 2010 of the two-hour documentary, The Bear Whisperer.
“I have learned over the years that the biggest, baddest and meanest bear is usually in control of the others,” stated Searles. “My success is based on assuming that role and showing our bears who is boss. The show will prove that we can co-exist with most wildlife if we take the time to understand how and why they behave the way they do and respect that.”
In a resort town where tourists and bears collide, it’s up to Searles to keep the peace in a community in a unique situation. Summer tourists arrive and so do black bears, fresh from hibernation and anxious to pack on pounds. When the local police get bear related 911 calls, they turn them over to Searles.
Steve Searles, an internationally recognized black bear specialist, has lectured at scientific conferences and met with law enforcement officers from Canada to Yosemite National Park—all in the hopes of sharing his unique perspective on the importance of human co-existence with bears. His Aversive Bear Program is known and used throughout the world.
