Exhibit Brings New Excitement to Museo Alameda

SAN ANTONIO--()--Not since the Splendors exhibit back in the nineties has San Antonio hosted an historic, cultural and artistic collection of the magnitude and impact as the exhibit currently running at the Museo Alameda in downtown San Antonio at Market Square. The exhibit, "Revolution and Renaissance," is a vast and impressive collection of art, artifacts and furnishings that the tells the story and the connection of the Mexican Revolution and San Antonio.

From an original penned letter written by the infamous Pancho Villa, a piano commissioned by President Portfirio Diaz representing the identity of Mexico, to world renowned paintings by Diego Rivera and Rufino Tamayo, at every turn of the exhibit, an intriguing and educational surprise awaits. There's even a small movie theatre running clips from the golden movie era of Mexico with stars such as Pedro Infante, Jorge Negrete and others. Adding to the experience are the original seats from the Alameda Theatre that give you the authentic feel of being there during that time.

Many of the exhibit's patrons have expressed delight in what they have discovered at the "Revolution and Renaissance" exhibit. "I was surprised to see so much and found myself completely engaged by the historical significance and association to San Antonio,” said local businessman Al Aguilar, who added, "I haven't seen anything like this since the big Splendors exhibit many years ago. It's exciting.”

“Revolution and Renaissance” is a triumph for the Museo Alameda in making a major statement of its own renaissance. The exhibit marks a vibrant return to the Museo Alameda's mission of serving the local community and the thousands of tourists who seek a better understanding of the historical and cultural roots of San Antonio. "We are proud of the exhibit and most importantly, that the Museo Alameda is on its way to enjoying its rightful, long term place as a gathering center for all to enjoy,” said Rolando Pablos, Chairman of the Museo Alameda.

The Museo is open 10 am to 6 pm, Tuesday through Sunday. The "Revolution and Renaissance" exhibit has extended its run through September 2011.
