Research and Markets: Presalt Legislation in Brazil - What Does the Future Hold?

DUBLIN--()--Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/e86272/the_future_for_the) has announced the addition of the "The Future for the Brazilian Presalt" report to their offering.

Although almost two and a half years have passed since officials announced that the massive Tupi discovery could contain 5-8 Bboe, Brazil's oil and gas industry is still digesting the news of the enormous reserves that could lie within the entire presalt layer. Some companies are already poised for action, while others are waiting for the Brazilian state to come to grips with the notion of being a top five oil producer by 2020. Most in the industry are aware of the Brazilian presalt miracle, but many questions must still be resolved including the extent and nature of the reserves, the fiscal regime that will be used, the exact role of foreign companies, and the technology that will be used. Add to this the end of the popular President Lula's eight-year reign, and you have a cocktail of short and long-term uncertainty.

For all of the uncertainty, however, the discovery couldn't have had a more appropriate owner. In spite of its social and infrastructure problems, Brazil is at a seminal time in its development, and oil and gas can be used to leverage further industrialization in the country, as well as confronting structural problems. In addition, Petrobras is a leader in ultra deepwater drilling worldwide and is already the second largest producer in South America - almost a top ten global producer in fact. But will the country be able to muster up the strength for such a large endeavor?

In this month's Energy Intelligence report, the Brazilian miracle will be analyzed in detail to better understand the effects that the presalt reserves will have on the oil and gas industry and on the progress being made to change the country's fiscal regime. A variety of opportunities will lie ahead in the country's presalt areas for service providers, equipment providers, consultants, and even international oil companies (IOCs).
