Citizen Effect in Partnership with Twitpay Launch Japan Earthquake Relief Fund

Eric Schmidt, Google Chairman & CEO, to match donations up to $100,000

WASHINGTON--()--Citizen Effect, an entrepreneurial nonprofit that provides citizen’s the tools they need to support communities and organizations in need around the world, has partnered with Twitpay, the leading provider of social media payment technology, to raise funds for disaster relief in Japan through the American Red Cross’s Disaster Relief Organizations.

Through Twitpay’s RT2Give service, users can donate $10 by sending a simple tweet: “Help #Japan recover. Retweet this to give $10 today. @EricSchmidt will match first $100K. RT2Give $10 http://rt2give.com/t/1112.” The donation will go to Citizen Effect’s Japan Earthquake Relief Fund. 100% of all donations support to the American Red Cross's Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami fund. Google Chairman and CEO, Eric Schmidt and his wife, Wendy, have committed to matching the first $100,000 donated.

“Japan has faced a horrible tragedy this week with the loss of lives and utter physical devastation due to the earthquake and tsunami and we hope to raise awareness and encourage followers to donate $10 through Twitpay to support the Red Cross’s Japan Relief Fund,” says Citizen Effect CEO, Dan Morrison. “We are thrilled to have the support of Eric Schmidt as part of our Relief Fund and hope others will join in and donate.”
