Publicity Club of New England Opens Nominations for Revamped Practitioner Awards and Grants Program

Newly Added Ringer Award Honors Mid-Level PR Professionals; John J. Molloy Crystal Bell Continues 30 Year Heritage of Recognizing Lifelong Contributors to the Field

BOSTON--()--The Publicity Club of New England, the region’s oldest not-for-profit public relations trade organization, today announced nominations have opened for a group of awards and grants given to outstanding PR and communications practitioners across New England. These prestigious honors will be announced at the 2011 Bell Ringer Awards ceremony on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at the Westin Waltham Boston.

The awards are structured as follows:

  • The John J. Molloy Crystal Bell Lifetime Achievement Award has recognized New England communications veterans for more than 30 years. Nominations are open to professionals with a lengthy career in communications and public relations, including agency principals, senior executives, academics or others who possess distinguished credentials. Recent honorees include Larry Weber from Racepoint Group, Kirk Hazlett from Curry College, and Steve and Paula Mae Schwartz from Schwartz Communications.
  • The inaugural Ringer Award honors a practitioner who has demonstrated steady and significant progress in impacting his/her agency, company or practice and the New England PR community since entering the field of public relations. The award will be given to a professional who is known by colleagues and clients as a model practitioner committed to furthering their personal growth, that of their company and that of the field.
  • The Striker Award recognizes a practitioner who has demonstrated an early love of the field, a dedication to their career and a superior work ethic. The award is given to a public relations or communications professional who has excelled in the communications industry in a very short period of time and has surpassed other newcomers in the organization and in the field.
  • The William M. Cavanaugh Student Grant continues the Publicity Club’s tradition of developing and encouraging the next generation of public relations professionals enrolled in at colleges across New England. The grant will be given to a junior or senior student with aspirations to practice PR or communications in the New England area following graduation.

“The Publicity Club of New England is committed to promoting the profession of public relations in a number of different ways, spanning from our robust educational programming to our annual Bell Ringer awards,” said Lauren Howe, president of the Publicity Club of New England for the 2010-2011 season. “Our roster of individual awards and grants is another way we look to progress the profession by recognizing the contributions of exemplary professionals in our field.”
