Hurricane Electric Extends its Commitment to the Paris Internet Market with New Point-of-Presence at Telehouse Paris 2 Voltaire

New location provides reliable access to next generation Internet protocol IPv6

PARIS--()--Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone and leading colocation provider, today announced that it has established a point-of-presence (PoP) with Telehouse Paris 2 Voltaire, located at 137 Boulevard Voltaire, Paris, France.

This expansion furthers Hurricane Electric’s network reach in Paris and will give customers in the area greater bandwidth, reduced latency and improved quality of service. The new PoP will also enable Hurricane Electric to improve fault tolerance, load balancing and congestion management infrastructure capabilities for the delivery of IPv6 access services.

“With this new PoP, Hurricane Electric is strengthening its commitment to the Paris market and increasing access to its vast IPv6 network,” said Mike Leber, President of Hurricane Electric. “Hurricane Electric is well positioned to meet the needs of the increasing demand for IPv6 in Europe.”

A leader in the delivery of next generation Internet protocol, Hurricane Electric’s global Internet network is one of the few that is IPv6-native and does not rely on internal tunnels for its IPv6 connectivity. First deployed on Hurricane Electric’s Internet backbone in 2001, IPv6 is offered as a core service and every customer is provided IPv6 connectivity - as well as classic IPv4 connectivity. Hurricane Electric connects to more than 1,200 associated IPv6 backbones.

In addition to operating the world’s largest IPv6 network, Hurricane Electric has been at the forefront of educating network operators, CIOs, CFOs and C-level executives about the technological and economic benefits of IPv6 and how to implement the next-generation Internet protocol. Last summer, Hurricane Electric launched an IPv6 YouTube channel that provides weekly updates on the state of IPv6 and numerous techniques that network administrators can use to ensure a seamless transition.

Hurricane Electric offers popular IPv6 tool such asIPv6 certification, IPv6 Tunnel Broker Service and Free DNS Service offerings at no charge.

Hurricane Electric offers IPv4 and IPv6 transit solutions over the same connection at speeds of up to 10 Gbps. Within its global network, Hurricane has 45 major exchange points with connectivity to more than 1,600 different networks. Employing a resilient fiber topology, Hurricane Electric has no less than four redundant paths crossing North America, two separate paths between the U.S. and Europe, and rings in Europe and Asia.
