HAMILTON, Bermuda--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Bermuda’s Premier and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Paula A. Cox, JP, MP, has announced that the OECD has issued the official invitation to the World’s financial center jurisdictions, including key G20 countries and others that make up the full membership of the OECD Global Forum of approximately 97 countries, inviting them for the May 31 – June 1 Global Forum event in Bermuda.
Commenting on Bermuda’s plans to host the event, Premier Cox said that the posting of the official invitation means a lot to the Island’s Tourism and International Business sectors. “We have been given a remarkable opportunity to showcase Bermuda as we prepare to welcome the movers and shakers of the Global Finance administration, including leading players in the G20, all of whom will be learning about our jurisdiction, business and tourism infrastructure, before coming to this very special event.”

Bermuda, in its capacity as a Vice Chair of the Steering Group of the OECD Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes works closely with many G20 and OECD countries. Well over 100 delegates encompassing Senior Government officials, including some Ministers of Government from around the World, are expected to visit Bermuda on May 31st when Bermuda hosts the 2011 OECD Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for tax Purposes at the Fairmont Southampton Hotel.” Already Global Forum officials have advised that a number of early registrations to attend the Global Forum have been received.
