HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--An accomplished labor and employment partner and a tax partner will team up to guide Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P.’s Houston office as its outgoing Partner-in-Charge begins to wind down his 40-year career with the firm.
Shauna Johnson Clark takes the helm today as Partner-in-Charge of the international firm’s Houston office, and Andrius Kontrimas becomes the office’s Administrative Partner. They replace Michael Conlon, who has served as Partner-in-Charge since 2007. Conlon became the Co-Partner-in-Charge of the Houston office in 2001. He also served as the head of the firm’s Washington, D.C. office from 1992 to 1998.
“We are grateful to Mike for his superb and devoted leadership,” said Steven B. Pfeiffer, the Chair of Fulbright’s Executive Committee. “Shauna and Andrius are natural leaders and bring unique and important perspectives to their new positions. We are pleased they have agreed to serve in these significant roles in our oldest and largest office as we steer our global firm toward the future.”
A highly regarded employment lawyer, Clark has successfully represented businesses and individuals accused of violating state and federal law. She has handled trial and arbitration cases across the country. Additionally, Clark trains and counsels employers on the best practices for hiring and ending employment relationships whether an individual job is at issue or a company-wide restructuring is taking place.
Clark has been cited as a “Texas Super Lawyer” and “Texas Rising Star” in Texas Monthly, among the “Women on the Move” by Texas Executive Women, one of the Houston Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” in 2009, among the Best Lawyers in America and as a “Lawyer on the Fast Track” in H Texas Magazine. Clients describe her as a “very impressive labor lawyer,” in Chambers USA.
Clark received her J.D. cum laude from Tulane Law School and her undergraduate degree in Political Science from Louisiana State University.
“Following in Mike’s footsteps is a challenge and an honor,” Clark said. “I look forward to leading this great group of lawyers and outstanding support staff as we continue to provide excellent client service to companies in Houston, as well as to our clients facing issues across the globe.”
“It has been my distinct honor and high privilege to work with such dedicated, talented and hard-working lawyers and staff as the head of the Houston office for the past decade,” Conlon said. “While I no longer will be Partner-in-Charge of the office, I remain dedicated to the clients I continue to serve and available to answer any questions my successors may have. Shauna and Andrius are integral parts of our team and will be remarkable leaders.”
With more than 25 years experience, and regularly named as a Texas Super Lawyer, Kontrimas heads up the international tax practice at Fulbright and advises international and U.S. clients on joint ventures, private equity transactions, global tax planning, international mergers and acquisitions and contested tax matters. He also heads up the art law practice group advising museums, art dealers and private collectors.
Kontrimas earned his B.A. in economics from University of California, Berkeley in 1982 and his J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Law in 1985.
“Houston remains the energy capital of the world, and is not only the headquarters, but an important vortex for many of our energy and health care industry clients,” said Kontrimas. “Given our firm’s long history representing clients in these two key industries, Houston has long been an important market for us. We are where our clients need us to be whether that is in London, the Middle East, China or in domestic markets, such as Houston, New York, California or Washington, D.C.”
