HANOVER, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--[CeBIT Hall 2, Stand F38/F32] – Fusion-io, pioneer of high-performance solutions for next generation data centers, is demonstrating at CeBIT with its newest Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) partner, Super Micro Computer, Inc. (NASDAQ: SMCI), a leader in application-optimized, high-performance server and storage solutions. The CeBIT demonstration showcases a new 1U Twin SuperServer running on the flash-based, server-attached ioDrive Octal from Fusion-io achieving 1.4 million random IOPS from the simple to deploy configuration.
Fusion-io and Supermicro are offering Fusion Powered SuperServers that significantly accelerate data intensive applications and workloads for virtual machine implementations, financial transactions, web content, database and data mining.
“Fusion’s technology has added significant weight to the Supermicro solution. By integrating the new ioDrive Octal, our SuperServer can achieve much higher IO performance with a very high flash-storage capacity to support mission-critical applications,” said Wally Liaw, Senior Vice President of International Sales for Supermicro. “We are pleased to work with Fusion-io to offer these solutions to our channel partners.”
The initial offering of Fusion Powered SuperServers includes three models, bringing Fusion’s ioMemory technology to Supermicro SuperServers in 1U, 2U and 4U form factors. Supermicro customers will be able to select from Fusion’s ioDrive, ioDrive Duo and ioDrive Octal when building their customized solution, making it easy for customers to order ready-to-deploy Fusion Powered Servers in multiple configurations. By integrating the ioDrive Octal directly into a SuperServer, enterprise applications are accelerated by up to 10 times and beyond, while simultaneously reducing power-per-IOP up to 10 times.
“We’ve been working closely with Supermicro to create a solution that eliminates unnecessary complexity while dramatically improving performance and reliability for their customers,” said Jim Dawson, Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales for Fusion-io. “Breaking the million IOPS barrier with Supermicro clearly demonstrates that Fusion Powered solutions dramatically exceed the speed of even SSD-based storage arrays.”
