NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The John B. Hurford Memorial Lecture was inaugurated in 2002 in memory of John B. Hurford, a devoted Director of the Foreign Policy Association. A graduate of Haverford College and Harvard University, John B. Hurford spent two years in India through Fulbright Fellowships, where he lectured for Economic Growth and the University of Delhi. He then began his business at Lazard Freres and Company, where he worked on mergers, acquisitions, and investment research. In 1969, he joined BEA Associates, a New York-based investment management firm, as a managing director. In 1998, he became vice chairman of U.S. Equities at Credit Suisse Asset Management, the successor firm to BEA Associates.
