N-trig Expands Work with ISVs Reflecting Expansion of Slate & Pen Market

Company Sees Rapid Growth of Pen-Enabled Apps as Developers Leverage New Slate Specific OSs

KFAR SABA, Israel & AUSTIN, Texas--()--N-trig, providers of DuoSense®, a pen and projected capacitive multi-touch solution enabled over a single digitizer, today announced that they are expanding their partnerships with ISVs to support the development and increase of pen-enabled applications for the rapidly growing slate market.

As OEMs introduce more slates in 2011, they are moving beyond touch-only capabilities to offer a stronger combination of pen and multi-touch, enabling software developers to expand their work to create more pen-based applications for consumers and enterprise. Users will begin to see an increase in the different types of applications that will be available for a wide range of industries and supported by various operation systems, including Android’s new Honeycomb.

“N-trig’s DuoSense technology is a perfect complement to our handwriting recognition solutions for tablets, users can take advantage of full tactile commands and at the same time use a stylus to write and draw with the same precision as a pen on paper,” said Jean-Marc Aïchoun, VP Sales and Marketing at Vision Objects.

The software market currently offers a wide variety of pen-enabled applications that enable more precision and accuracy resulting in a more productive user experience that cannot be achieved with multi-touch alone. Examples of these applications vary from drawing or handwriting, which need to reflect specific line size and pressure functionality to complex subjects such as physics and math’s that require more than just a finger for equations and graphs.

“By partnering with innovative software companies such as Vision Objects, who understand the need and power of the pen in the slate market, we are able to continue our commitment to advancing developer innovation and bringing users enhanced technological differentiators that provide an enriched Hands-on® computing experience,” said Amichai Ben-David, CEO, N-trig.

DuoSense Digital Pencil is a battery-powered stylus and functions just like a regular pen. Complementing the multi-touch capabilities the Digital Pencil offers a more effective natural and accurate form of input interaction, enabling users to write and annotate directly on screen much as they would on a textbook or pad of paper, advancing basic consumption to a much greater potential for creative and simultaneous input and resulting in higher levels of performance and productivity.

N-trig’s DuoSense solution will be integrated in a number of Android- and Windows-based slates due to be launched in 2011.
