Washington Hospital Healthcare Foundation Awards $85,000 to Pathways Hospice Foundation

Committed to Hospice Care for Tri-City Patients

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--()--Pathways Hospice Foundation recently received a grant for $85,000 from the Washington Hospital Healthcare Foundation. The grant will support hospice care and services to patients residing within the Washington Township Health Care District, which includes Fremont, Newark, Union City, part of South Hayward, and unincorporated Sunol.

“Hospice services provide comfort and care to entire families facing the loss of a loved one,” said Demetrious Shaffer, president of the Washington Hospital Healthcare Foundation Board of Trustees. “Pathways Hospice plays a critical role in our community. The Washington Hospital Healthcare Foundation is pleased to be able to support Pathways’ commitment in providing compassionate end-of-life care to patients in Washington Township.”

The grant to Pathways Hospice Foundation is possible because of community funds raised by Washington Hospital Healthcare Foundation at its signature fundraising events, Trees of Angels, and the 25th Annual Golf Tournament, held in memory of Gene Angelo Pessagno.

“It is a great privilege for us to serve the patients and families who reside in Washington Township,” said Barbara Burgess, Pathways CEO. “We greatly appreciate Washington Hospital Healthcare Foundation’s long-term commitment to end-of-life care in the community and are greatly honored to receive this grant. As a not-for-profit hospice, this generous grant will help us continue to provide care to families in need.”
