LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Panphonics, the leading provider of directional audio speakers, today announced that its patented Sound Shower® loudspeakers are been installed in the industry’s largest in-store digital network, 7-Eleven TV. Working with Digital Display Networks Inc. (DDN), the lead integrator on the 7-Eleven TV installation, the Panphonics speakers will reach an estimated 190 million monthly viewers at more than 6,200 7-Eleven stores throughout the United States and Canada. The network, when completed, is expected to drive more than 2.3 billion impressions annually.
In each 7-Eleven store where 7-Eleven TV is installed, the Sound Shower speakers are integrated with two LCD high-definition monitors that will target audio only to consumers who are positioned directly in front of the monitors. The 7-Eleven TV in-store network will deliver around-the-clock programming with national and local entertainment news and weather, as well as exclusive content fit for convenience shoppers.
“The ability to create messages directly to consumers as they move in front of a display provides an immersive experience, even in a small convenience store, and this is the kind of innovation that consumers now expect from a digital out-of-home network,” said David Veckerelli, co-CEO of DDN. “There is less cross-talk and overall noise in the channel for both the consumer and the store operator. The 7-Eleven TV network maximizes engagement for its viewers, and directional audio is a core element in this endeavor.”
Other original content will consist of commercials advertising 7-Eleven's signature, proprietary brands, in-store and out-of-store brands and special 7-Eleven promotions. Network programming will be divided into multiple dayparts to promote specific items at the time when they are most relevant to customers.
“Audio design in retail environments can be just as, if not more, vital to the customer than visual information,” said Kari Mettala, CEO of Panphonics. “We have created, with DDN, an experience that is at once subliminal and hyper-targeted, and creates a powerful impression on the consumer.”
Panphonics will demonstrate its Sound Shower directional audio speakers at the Digital Signage Expo, Wednesday, February 23 through Friday, February 25, in Booth #827 in the Las Vegas Convention Center.
7-Eleven TV will carry in-store spots for manufacturers and distributors whose products are carried in 7-Eleven stores, with the ability to reach customers and influence their purchase decision.
“The 7-Eleven TV network is predicated on efficiency of design and message. The installation of strategically-placed HD monitors, with directional audio, speeds delivery of product information, special promotions, and other information to customers prior to the point of purchase,” said Veckerelli. “The Panphonics Sound Shower speakers are a powerful tool for us, both in terms of their ability to specifically target audio in a small space, and their compact, inconspicuous nature.”
Based in Dallas, 7-Eleven operates, franchises or licenses approximately 7,850 7-Eleven stores in North America. Globally, 7-Eleven operates, franchises or licenses more than 36,600 stores in 15 countries. During 2008, 7-Eleven stores worldwide generated total sales of more than $53.7 billion.
