ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--McKesson today announced that it will partner with Parrish Medical Center to transform its information technology infrastructure to support clinical, financial and operational excellence. The 210-bed provider in Titusville, Fla., plans to implement a comprehensive McKesson solution enterprisewide to automate clinical and financial processes, support attainment of quality measures and enable coordinated delivery of care regardless of where it’s delivered.
From the hospital’s emergency, surgery and nursing units to its business offices, imaging labs and affiliated physician practices, McKesson technology will position Parrish Medical to create a metrics-driven culture that can improve outcomes in all of its care settings.
“We plan to leverage McKesson’s broad portfolio and deep IT expertise to create a truly outstanding patient experience,” said Bill Moore, CIO, Parrish Medical Center. “In addition, McKesson was the clear choice to help us improve our bottom line and drive real efficiencies -- not only to meet today’s meaningful use criteria but also to ensure that we are equipped to succeed in a post-reform world.”
Parrish Medical Center’s new Horizon Clinicals® solutions include computerized physician order entry (CPOE), bar-code medication administration and other clinical tools that help promote patient safety and reduce variability of care within the hospital.
The Horizon Enterprise Revenue Management™ solution will support the entire revenue management process with a seamless solution to enable financial visibility throughout the care process. Re-engineered patient registration and access management processes will help to reduce operating costs, maximize revenue collection and support emerging payment models.
Other innovative McKesson solutions are poised to help drive transparency and shared accountability throughout the organization. An enterprise intelligence solution will provide advanced, real-time and retrospective performance analytics that aggregate clinical, financial and operational data from all care settings and transform it into actionable information. An electronic whiteboard will deliver real-time, at-a-glance performance surveillance information on patient status to all caregivers to affect care at the bed side. Building on the success of its existing McKesson radiology picture archiving communications system (PACS), the hospital will also deploy McKesson’s cardiovascular information system (CVIS) to help streamline its cardiology department.
Parrish Medical Center also has selected McKesson’s market-leading practice management and ambulatory EMR solution for its large practices, as well as connectivity solutions from McKesson’s RelayHealth. The combination will help the hospital seamlessly coordinate care, bridging the typical inpatient and outpatient information gaps, while also establishing strong ties with affiliated physicians and patients in the community.
“The demands on a hospital to improve patient care and expand its reach in the community are more pressing than ever before,” said Rod O’Reilly, president, Health Systems Enterprise Solutions, McKesson Provider Technologies. “Organizations such as Parrish Medical Center that are passionate about care quality and customer service see this challenge as an opportunity to evolve their healthcare delivery models to better serve their patients.”
