Boston CityPASS: Revolutionary Savings on Beantown’s Top Attractions

BOSTON--()--Boston may be a hotbed of history and the birthplace of the American Revolution, but no one could ever accuse this cosmopolitan destination of living in the past. Complementing the city’s cobblestones and Common are sleek skyscrapers, hip restaurants and a beautifully revitalized waterfront. Which all goes to show, you don’t have to be a history buff to thoroughly enjoy a Boston getaway.

Even more enjoyable is the money visitors save by using Boston CityPASS, which trims 48 percent off combined admission to the area’s top attractions. And in a city whose residents once revolted against the taxes and price increases imposed by the British, it’s fitting to note that the cost of a 2011 Boston CityPASS is holding steady at 2010 prices: $46 for adults (value $87.90); $29 for children, ages 3-11.

Boston CityPASS contains prepaid admission to the New England Aquarium, which, on April 15, will open its new Shark and Ray Touch Tank, where visitors can reach over the edge of the tank to safely touch the various species of rays and small sharks swimming by. The pass also includes entry to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, whose Art of the Americas wing opened in November 2010; the Museum of Science, whose recently revamped Charles Hayden Planetarium is New England’s most technologically advanced digital theater; Skywalk Observatory at the Prudential Center, and a choice of visiting either the Harvard Museum of Natural History or the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, which is currently marking the 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy’s inauguration with special exhibits and artifacts, including a comprehensive collection of fashions worn by Jacqueline Kennedy when she was First Lady.

Boston CityPASS can be purchased online at CityPASS.com or at any of the Boston CityPASS attractions. It is valid for nine consecutive days, beginning with the first day of use. CityPASS is also available for New York City, Atlanta, Chicago, Hollywood, Houston, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, Southern California and Toronto.
