Puget Sound Energy Joins doxo Network

New paperless option enables customers to electronically receive, pay and file their PSE and other bills, all in one place

SEATTLE--()--doxo and Puget Sound Energy, Washington state’s oldest local utility, today announced a new way for PSE customers to go paperless. By PSE joining the doxo Network, customers can now sign up for a free doxo account at www.doxo.com/PSE to securely receive, pay and file their PSE bills using their doxo account.

“By working together through the doxo Network, providers can drive much higher paperless adoption with their customers,” said Steve Shivers, doxo CEO. “As a critical cornerstone provider here in the Northwest, PSE is helping lead paperless adoption in the region. Starting today, PSE customers can connect and go paperfree with PSE on doxo, and use doxo as their secure digital filing cabinet to organize and manage all their other bills from other providers on the doxo Network together in one place.”

Rudy Wolf, PSE vice president and chief information officer, said, “Joining the doxo Network gives our customers another resource to go paperless as we continue to broaden our online service offerings. With technologically savvy customers expecting convenience-oriented services, it’s important that we provide alternative methods for securely managing their PSE account online.”

“doxo aligns with PSE’s ongoing efforts to provide great customer experience, reduce operational costs, and deliver a service that is secure and environmentally responsible,” added Wolf. “doxo is available to PSE customers in addition to our current paperless option on PSE.com.”

doxo customers can receive, pay, and file their PSE bills directly and securely through their personal doxo account. A user can also manage documents and critical account information for multiple providers all in one place, using doxo as their digital filing cabinet. Documents can be filed, printed, downloaded, or deleted at any time, and are securely stored for as long as the customer keeps their doxo account.

More than 800 million bills and other business documents are mailed to Western Washington residents each year, according to estimates based on U.S. Postal Service data. Producing and sending this amount of paper consumes 150,000 trees, generates 160,000 tons of greenhouse emissions, and burns eight million gallons of fuel.

In February 2010, Seattle committed itself to becoming North America’s first “climate neutral” city, with a goal of reaching zero net per capita greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. Increasing paperless adoption can be an important component to achieving this goal.

“As a company founded and based in Seattle, we’re excited to work with PSE to offer a new paperless choice for their customers, and we hope to catalyze much higher paperless adoption in Washington state,” continued Shivers. “But our sights go beyond the Northwest. We started doxo because we believe people want to go paperless, but it just hasn’t been simple or convenient until now. We look forward to working with many other companies in Washington state and across the country, to provide a simple and convenient paperless billing option for their customers.”

doxo allows companies of all sizes and industries – including credit unions and banks, phone companies, insurance companies, health providers and regional utilities – the opportunity to dramatically increase paperless adoption and online interaction by aligning efforts and providing a convenient new choice to customers. doxo is an online service and requires no software or IT services for companies to join the network.
