ZyLAB Launches Industry’s First Official Pro Bono eDiscovery Services Program

Company Expands Its Pro Bono Record by Donating a Percentage of its Fulfilled eDiscovery Services in the US

NEW YORK--()--ZyLAB, a leading eDiscovery and information management technology company, today launched its 2011 Pro Bono eDiscovery Services Program. ZyLAB will contribute 1GB of eDiscovery processing services per 10GB processed for its participating clients.

The new ZyLAB program supports the pro bono commitments made by law firms and corporate legal departments and builds upon ZyLAB’s history of donating its eDiscovery software to select war crime investigations. This program was officially unveiled at the annual LegalTech New York conference at the Hilton New York in Midtown Manhattan.

The ZyLAB Pro Bono eDiscovery Services Program aggregates the volume of eDiscovery processing projects completed for each client during each fiscal quarter of 2011 and subsequently provides pro bono eDiscovery services for up to 10% of that volume for the selected beneficiary. Participating clients may recommend beneficiaries for the program based on their own selected pro bono projects, or the pro bono services may be directed to a designated NGO or war crime investigation. ZyLAB has extensive experience providing eDiscovery services and software to high-stakes, high-volume legal proceedings with significant social impact, such as the United Nations war crime tribunals and war crime investigations.

ZyLAB reports that in previous years the company has, collectively, donated more than $250,000 in software and services to the Sierra Leone tribunal, the Cambodia tribunal, and a Rwanda war criminal investigation. The company strives to surpass that amount of pro bono eDiscovery services by partnering with law firms and corporate legal departments that are actively engaged in their own pro bono initiatives.

"During the Slobodan Milosevic trial, we found ZyLAB to be the ideal technical partner to implement our vision for bringing justice, managing millions of documents, and complying with the stringent rules of international law," said Gonzalo de Cesare, former information manager for several UN war crimes tribunals.

“Recent reports have indicated law firms and corporate legal departments dug deeper to increase their pro bono contributions over the last year. We are pleased to give clients the option to partner with an eDiscovery provider that has a similar mindset and dedication,” said Mary Mack, Esq., enterprise technology counsel for ZyLAB who joined ZyLAB, in part, because of its commitment to pro bono. “This gives law firms and legal departments additional resources for pro bono impact cases without breaking the bank.”

ZyLAB provides end-to-end eDiscovery software and services; pro bono services may span any processing on electronically stored information (ESI), such as collection, culling, indexing, and hosted review, depending on the beneficiary’s specific needs.
