LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Travelzoo (NASDAQ:TZOO), a global Internet media company, reported today that over 100,000 people signed up to its UK publications in the first 27 days of January — the fastest audience growth Travelzoo UK has seen. At the current rate, Travelzoo is on track to gain 125,000 new subscribers this month, 45,000 more than any previous month and 55,000 more than in January, 2010. Travelzoo now has over 2,275,000 subscribers across the UK, 580,000 more than this time last year, an increase of nearly 35%.
The acceleration in subscriber growth comes at the same time as the results of a new survey* revealed that 2 million Travelzoo subscribers across the UK are planning to book a holiday or short break in the next six months. Value for money is the most important factor in the holiday-purchasing decision this year: Two-thirds of respondents said that they would only book a holiday if they were offered a great deal or if the destination they were considering offered value for money.

As the rate of new subscribers increased in January, the Travelzoo Top 20® also saw record click volumes. In the second week of the year, the Top 20 received 924,247 clicks from subscribers, the first time the publication received more than 900,000 clicks.
The most popular deals so far in January include a £279 all-inclusive 5-star holiday to Turkey, and a 2-night stay with dinner and wine for two in a Yorkshire country-house hotel at £79.

*The Travelzoo subscriber survey was conducted online with no incentives between 13 and 16 January, 2011. 42,000 subscribers were invited to participate, 1459 responded, a return rate of 3.5%.
