LONDON & COPENHAGEN, Denmark--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Danish telecommunications company, TDC enhances its internationally renowned digital music service TDC PLAY, with the release of its highly anticipated smartphone application available via the Android OS. The mobile application was developed in partnership with TDC PLAY’s longtime digital music provider, 24-7 Entertainment.
The new application provides TDC PLAY customers with unlimited, unrestricted and instant access to its vast catalogue of music via Android phones -- other devices to be announced shortly. Playlists can contain up to 50 tracks and when created via the TDC PLAY web service, they will be instantly accessible via the mobile application. In addition, playlists can also be created and edited directly on the device. Users can store playlists offline and access them from other TDC PLAY enabled devices. Subscribers can play instant playlists and those generated by the TDC Play editorial team. As the service uses progressive download technology, tracks are available to be played offline in areas of limited or no mobile connection.
“With the addition of the smartphone app, TDC PLAY has established itself as a truly cloud-based music service, offering consumers a seamless way to access and enjoy their music to best fit their lifestyles, anywhere and anytime.”, said Frank Taubert, CEO & Co-Founder, 24-7 Entertainment.
The mobile app includes 3 main sections: (1) New Releases and Charts, (2) Search and Browse and (3) Manage Playlists. Users can search by title, artist or album and play music instantly by clicking on a track, album or playlist. One of the unique features is the ability to multi-task on devices which enables playback in the background while other applications are running in the foreground.
There is also a social media component in which users can view friends’ recommendations as well as TDC Play recommendations and share playlists with other users (via Facebook and or other social networks). The application can also show recommendations based on sales and on users’ previous behavior.
"TDC PLAY is constantly looking to enhance its service and facilitate the consumption of music and we feel confident that this smartphone app will be embraced by the Danish public as a new wave of the future.", said Tejs Bautrup, Head of Musik, TDC Musik / TDC PLAY / YouSee PLAY.
On January 31, 2011 a major nationwide ad campaign will kick off including TV, radio, print, outdoor and online promotions to officially introduce the mobile application.
