NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--This February, everyone across the country will have the opportunity to show their true colors as they make it their mission to fight women’s heart disease on National Wear Red Day - Friday, Feb. 4. As the kickoff to American Heart Month, shoppers and supporters can adorn themselves in shades of red and demonstrate heartfelt support for the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement. This year, Macy’s is celebrating seven years as national sponsor of Go Red For Women with exclusive designer fashion, shopping promotions, special in-store events and a whole-hearted campaign with Facebook dedicated to raising funds for the AHA and increasing awareness among women and their loved ones.
"At Macy's, we stay committed to the cause, and take our role as national sponsor of the Go Red movement to heart. From the in-store experience with exclusive fashions and events, to social media campaigns, we are always striving for fresh and innovative ways to raise funds and to motivate and educate our customers and associates in the importance of heart-healthy lifestyles,” says Martine Reardon, executive vice president of Marketing, Macy’s, Inc. “Seven years and counting, we have raised over $24 million for the American Heart Association, helping to fund their life-saving research and raising awareness amongst women of this life-threatening disease."
“Less than 1 percent of the U.S. population has ideal cardiovascular health as defined by the American Heart Association, and the effects of heart disease leave millions of lives in peril,” said Debra Lockwood, American Heart Association board chairman and executive vice president and CFO, Provident Resources Group, Inc. “With Macy’s support, the American Heart Association and Go Red For Women are uniquely positioned to help educate the public on how to improve their heart health. We’re thankful that Macy’s backs its commitment by generously supporting Go Red For Women, a vital movement that helps save women’s lives from the devastation of heart disease, the No. 1 killer of women.”
