PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--dbMotion, a provider of connected healthcare solutions, today announced its participation as an exhibitor (Booth 2063) at next month’s HIMSS11 annual conference. dbMotion will demonstrate recent advances in point-of-care information delivery within existing EMR systems to achieve genuinely connected healthcare.
dbMotion executives, partners and clients will be available Feb. 20-23 in Orlando to discuss challenges, solutions and perspectives surrounding key industry issues such as the emergence of accountable care organizations and patient-centered medical homes; increased emphasis on effective disease and care management programs; and the value of improved population health strategies to improve care and control costs within an HIE.
Two dbMotion clients—also widely regarded as industry thought leaders—will take the podium to discuss their experiences with implementing advanced technology solutions to achieve interoperability and connected healthcare.
- Rasu Shrestha, MD, MBA, Vice President of Medical Information Technology and Medical Director for Interoperability & Imaging Informatics at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), will present the session “From Vision to Reality: Meaningful Connectivity among Providers and with Patients” at 12:15 p.m., Mon., Feb. 21. Dr. Shrestha will detail the steps UPMC has taken to promote connected healthcare, relay “lessons learned” during technology implementation and provide tactics other healthcare organizations can adopt to achieve similar results.
- Eric Alper, MD, FACP, SFHM, CPHIMS, Associate Professor of Medicine and the Chair of UMass Memorial Medical Center EMR Physician Advisory Committee, and David Smith, PMP, senior project manager for health information exchange efforts at UMass Memorial, will deliver a talk entitled “From Theory to Practice: The Right Recipe for Successful HIE” at 11:15 a.m. Thur., Feb. 24. During the presentation, Dr. Alper and Mr. Smith will share key steps that enabled the organization to successfully achieve HIE. It will cover internal sponsors, guiding principles, rules for information exchange, realistic expectations and foundational requirements.
“The challenges facing healthcare leaders today are unprecedented, and this year’s HIMSS conference will serve as an ideal platform for dialog and innovation,” Peter McClennen, dbMotion’s president for North America. “We are looking forward to renewing connections with colleagues and clients, and nurturing relationships with new acquaintances. HIMSS always provides an invaluable opportunity to connect and to get feedback from those using our technology solutions.”
Advanced solutions from dbMotion are designed to accelerate progress towards genuinely connected healthcare by facilitating care coordination and population management. Integrated applications and tools, based on the SOA-based dbMotion interoperability platform, deliver point-of-care patient information in a semantically harmonized format. Significantly, dbMotion enables providers to achieve connected healthcare from within their workflow by leveraging existing health information systems – and so avoid an expensive “rip-and-replace” single-vendor strategy – while delivering the flexibility and scalability necessary to meet future needs.
About dbMotion
dbMotion is an innovative provider of health interoperability solutions. It develops and markets the dbMotion™ Solution, a proven SOA-based platform that enables healthcare organizations and health information exchanges (HIEs) to meaningfully integrate and leverage their information assets, driving improvements in the quality, safety and efficiency of patient care. dbMotion transforms care through the creation of a virtual patient record that logically connects patient information in existing systems without requiring their replacement. By providing access to integrated patient information, the solution connects care settings, bridging gaps that often exist between inpatient/acute care and community care, and demonstrates a compelling return on investment (ROI). This robust solution is field-proven, having been implemented in some of the world’s most demanding healthcare IT environments since 2001.
