WALTHAM, Mass. & MENLO PARK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Battery Ventures, a multi-stage investment firm focused on technology and innovation worldwide, today announced the promotion of Chelsea Stoner from Vice President to Principal. She is based in the firm’s Menlo Park, CA office, and focuses on growth equity and buyout investments in the software and digital media markets, with a particular emphasis on SaaS and healthcare software. Most recently, Stoner was involved with the firm’s buyout of Data Innovations (clinical lab software), and its growth equity investment in Groupon (social commerce and group buying).
“We are a fast moving ship, and Chelsea is right there with us,” said Dave Cormack, CEO of Brightree, a Battery portfolio company in the healthcare SaaS space, where Stoner holds a board seat. “We are executing an aggressive plan to grow both organically and through strategic acquisitions, and Chelsea has been instrumental in helping us source the targets, negotiate the deals, and integrate the companies cleanly into Brightree.”
Earlier this year, Battery closed Battery IX, a $750 million fund. The fund will continue the same investment strategy Battery has employed for more than 25 years, investing in businesses from the seed stage to growth equity and buyouts across a variety of technology and related markets. Recent Battery investments include, Calxeda, Data Innovations, Groupon, SafetyWeb, Skullcandy, Vero Software, and VSS Monitoring.
“Chelsea has been an outstanding contributor since she joined the firm in 2006,” said General Partner Tom Crotty. “She knows her markets inside and out, and rolls up her sleeves to support portfolio company management teams. We are proud to recognize her with this promotion; it’s a great example of a core people strategy we follow of growing our investment team from within. We look forward to many years of success for her at the firm.”
