LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--People are the most important component of resilience. Researchers at Lehigh University’s Center for Catastrophe Modeling and Resilience urge all those in the path of wildfires currently spreading in and around Los Angeles, California to heed the advice of authorities managing the unfolding disaster.
“Modeling helps enable authorities to prepare by providing a virtual environment to simulate catastrophic scenarios in advance of life-threatening real-world situations like we see unfolding now in Los Angeles,” said Paolo Bocchini, Director of the Center for Catastrophe Modeling and Resilience. “Effective modeling allows communities to identify high-risk areas, predict the impact of events, test response strategies, and ultimately make informed decisions to mitigate damage and save lives before a real disaster strikes.”
