SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--UC Scout, a University of California program dedicated to expanding access to high-quality A-G approved education, continues to grow its reach across the state, supporting over 40,000 California student enrollments in the 2023-24 academic year. This increase reflects the growing demand for accessible and flexible online learning solutions.
With a catalog of over 65 A-G approved courses, including 28 Advanced Placement® (AP) offerings, UC Scout continues to address educational equity by ensuring students across California have access to courses that meet UC and CSU admissions requirements. This includes free offerings for California public schools and educators, and options for students to support learning or earn high school credit independently.
Notable achievements in 2023-24 include:
- Expanded reach, serving over 1,100 schools in California, an increase of over 35% from 2022.
- Enhanced educator support, with over 400 California teachers utilizing UC Scout’s free curricula. UC Scout also introduced a free, cutting-edge teacher professional development program.
- New, high-demand courses, including Introduction to Ethnic Studies and AP African American Studies. UC Scout continues to add to its course catalog to ensure educators and students have access to relevant and high-demand subjects.
- Student success, with a remarkable 81% of UC Scout students passing AP exams with a score of “3” or better, outpacing national averages.
“UC Scout’s record-breaking year is a testament to our commitment to providing high-quality, accessible instructional resources to educationally underserved students in California’s schools,” said Ehren Koepf, Executive Director at UC Scout. “While we’re proud of our impact to support students and educators, our work is far from done. Over half of California students still do not meet A-G requirements, so an urgent need to close this gap remains. We are steadfast in our mission to expand educational opportunities and ensure every student has access to the tools they need to succeed."
The year ahead
UC Scout is committed to continuous improvement, refining its curriculum to meet the highest accessibility standards, adopting cutting-edge technologies, and staying ahead of educational trends to better serve educators and students in California and beyond.
In the coming year, UC Scout remains focused on expanding resources and services available, refining and optimizing its course catalog and preparing new courses that meet high-need subjects for schools. Highlights include embracing and investigating emerging technologies like artificial technology and providing curricula in personal finance, a soon-to-be new high school graduation requirement.
“UC Scout remains a vital partner in addressing the diverse needs of California's schools and focused on providing top-tier resources that support academic success and broaden educational opportunities for all,” said Koepf.
