American Water employees from across the country came together to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Safe Drinking Water Act.

CAMDEN, N.J.--()--American Water (NYSE: AWK), the largest regulated water and wastewater utility company in the U.S., is proud to join the water industry in celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), the landmark law that has safeguarded public health by protecting drinking water quality since its passage on December 16, 1974.

“Today we reflect on 50 years of the Safe Drinking Water Act and are reminded of its profound impact on the nation's public drinking water supply,” said M. The company expects to invest over $40 billion in infrastructure repairs and replacement, and system resiliency over the next 10 years. This investment aligns with the spirit of the Safe Drinking Water Act and its mission to safeguard public health for not only American Water customers but communities across the nation.
