TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SickKids employees will hold a demonstration on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, to demand access to the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP).
Despite providing exceptional care to children and families, SickKids employees are excluded from HOOPP—a comprehensive pension plan available to most hospital workers across the province.
Instead, SickKids staff – predominantly women and disproportionately racialized – say their ‘poverty-level pension plan’ jeopardizes their financial security in retirement.
The Canadian Union of Public Employees, the Ontario Nurses’ Association, and the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU/SEFPO), are coming together to fight for pension equity and fair treatment for all SickKids staff.
